Response: NFL execs worry Antonio Brown trade sets dangerous precedent.
The Pittsburgh Steelers traded Antonio Brown to the Oakland Raiders. As the ESPN explains, there were two reasons for this: (1) “Brown wanted a new contract the Steelers were not going to give him!, and (2) “keeping an all-pro malcontent on the roster risked stunting the growth fo young players such as wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster” (Fowler, 2019).
However, as the article says, it is worrisome that some player may take this as a signal that they don’t necessarily have to honor contracts, but rather can force their way out of it as Brown did. I agree with everything the article has to say.
